☀️ Happy Monday, UC neighbors!
Union County is settling fully into spring mode this week. Warmer evenings are finally sticking around, downtowns are getting busier again, and the calendar starts picking up with outdoor markets, live music, local theater, and community events across the county.
In this week’s issue, we’re highlighting a few great ways to get out locally, including the Scotch Plains Farmers Market, Fiddler on the Roof at CDC Theatre in Cranford, a nostalgic “Westfield…The Old Days” community talk at the Westfield Memorial Library, and a full weekend lineup that includes live ABBA music in Rahway and a Sunday afternoon performance from the Summit Symphony Orchestra. We’re also spotlighting a few food updates around the county, including Johnny Napkins officially opening in Cranford and Butter & Jam expanding into Garwood.
New in Cranford
Johnny Napkins
123 N. Union Ave, Cranford
Popular Union favorite Johnny Napkins has officially opened its second location in downtown Cranford, taking over the former Pizza House space on North Union Avenue. Known for its pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, and Italian comfort-food menu, the restaurant is now open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
Coming soon to Garwood
Butter & Jam — Garwood (at Vermella on South Ave.)
Popular Madison brunch spot Butter & Jam is expanding into Garwood, bringing its cozy café vibe, coffee drinks, and colorful breakfast and brunch menu to South Avenue. Known for its Instagram-worthy toasts, bowls, and baked treats, the new location gives Garwood another strong daytime dining option to watch this summer.
Bagels Galore…
There are 2 more bagel places opening soon in Westfield.
